About This Project
This home began as a humble seasonal beach cottage—once a simple summer retreat without year-round utilities. When our client purchased the property, she brought with her a clear vision: to thoughtfully transform it into a timeless beach house, evoking the charm and nostalgia of the 1940s and 1950s
Project Description
From the moment you step inside, the vision comes to life. Every detail—from furnishings to finishes—has been carefully curated to capture the charm of a mid-century seaside escape, where time seems to slow and the past feels close at hand.
Behind the walls, however, the story is entirely modern. Built to today’s energy standards, the home features closed-cell foam insulation and high-efficiency systems throughout—performance seamlessly hidden beneath its vintage character.
To support year-round living, a trench was carved from the road to bring in full utilities, along with the addition of a semi-basement. About one-third of the home now sits on this new foundation, while the rest retains its original structure on classic brick piers.
The result is a thoughtful blend of old-world charm and modern craftsmanship—one that has even earned recognition in Architectural Digest.
